Namibia's Nappa Party: Electrification, Sanitation, and Economic Vision (2026)

Nappa's Focus on Electrification and Development

Nappa, a political party in Namibia, is gearing up for the upcoming regional and local elections, with a strong emphasis on addressing the needs of its citizens. Co-founder Penda Negonga outlines a comprehensive strategy to tackle various issues, including electrification and infrastructure development.

One of the party's key initiatives is to introduce a temporary local authority levy, aiming to generate substantial funds for essential projects. Negonga proposes using these funds to purchase electricity from NamPower and invest in companies, with a primary focus on settling the City of Windhoek's outstanding fees and electrifying informal settlements. This commitment extends to providing electricity to every informal settlement, regardless of its legal status.

In addition to electrification, Nappa plans to revolutionize transportation in Windhoek. They aim to introduce an efficient and affordable transport system, ensuring residents have better mobility options. Furthermore, the party is dedicated to stimulating job creation, particularly in the business sector, by offering cheap zoned plots.

Negonga also highlights the importance of addressing sanitation challenges in informal settlements. He suggests implementing dry pot toilets in these areas and rural regions to improve living conditions. The party criticizes the government's delayed invoice settlement, arguing that it hinders economic growth, and urges faster payment processes.

Another concern raised is the insufficient allowance for graduates participating in government internships. Negonga calls for an increase in the monthly allowance from N$2800 to N$5000, ensuring graduates can sustain themselves during their training. He also questions the Swapo party's focus on debt refinancing and the construction of a mango processing plant, suggesting it aligns with their party manifesto.

Nappa's approach to these issues demonstrates a commitment to comprehensive development and a focus on the well-being of its citizens. The party's plans aim to bring about positive change and address the challenges faced by Namibians, making it a notable contender in the upcoming elections.
