Exciting news for racing enthusiasts! As January draws to a close, we're gearing up for the final round of Gran Turismo 7's Weekly Challenges for this month. These challenges, which showcase some of the new features introduced in the recent 1.67 update, have just become available as the clock strikes midnight on Friday morning.
Weekly Challenges were first introduced back in November 2023, adding an engaging layer to the gameplay for those who have completed the main GT Cafe mode. Each week, players are presented with five distinct challenges; four are conventional race events sourced from the World Circuits, while the fifth is a special event crafted uniquely for that week. This could range from a competitive race to a time trial or mission-style challenge.
Players are given a full week to tackle these challenges, providing an extra incentive to revisit races they might have overlooked in the Cafe or to dive into fresh content and races that have been added in previous updates.
Overview of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges – January Week 5 Events
1. Sunday Cup – Willow Springs
Kicking things off is a fast-paced race at Willow Springs, which is surprisingly quick, taking less time to complete than it takes to say its full name: "Willow Springs International Raceway: Streets of Willow Springs Reverse." Fortunately, the Weekly Challenges interface has simplified this title for convenience. This event consists of two laps on this lesser-known layout, one of the few real-world reverse tracks featured in the game. All you need is a Road car to compete, and you’ll be in the running for a winner's prize of 25,000 credits.
2. European Clubman Cup 600 – Suzuka Circuit
Next up is the European Clubman Cup 600 at the iconic Suzuka Circuit, where players can earn more credits but should prepare for a tough three-lap battle against some challenging AI opponents—especially one standout competitor. As implied by the name, you'll need a Road car from any European manufacturer. Although the “600” denotes a suggested Performance Point (PP) value for fair competition against the AI, be ready for a spirited challenge. Winning this event will net you 60,000 credits.
3. Special Event – Deep Forest
Another notable event this week is a seven-lap race at Deep Forest, exclusively featuring the newly introduced Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. Both races in this segment offer a generous reward of 90,000 credits for victory. The AI drivers appear to be operating standard specifications, including racing parts, making it manageable if you remember to have the "Overtake" button mapped since the AI doesn’t utilize it, which provides a helpful 25 horsepower advantage.
4. Hypercar Parade – Circuit de Sainte-Croix
For the second consecutive week, we return to Circuit de Sainte-Croix, specifically to the long C layout for the Hypercar Parade. The only condition here is that you must use a Road car, allowing you to select anything within this class—even if it’s an outlandish VGT categorized as a road vehicle. The powerful 1,525 horsepower Xiaomi makes a fantastic choice, but be cautious of other fierce competitors on the lengthy straightaway at the end of the circuit. Like the previous event, securing a win here will also earn you 90,000 credits.
5. World Touring Car 800 – Mount Panorama
Wrapping up the week is the regular World Touring Car event, now featuring the brand-new WTC800 challenge at the renowned Mount Panorama. Here, players can choose any car fitted with Racing tires, as long as it adheres to the strict 800 PP limit, with AI competitors strictly using Gr.3 vehicles. This race is designed for savvy tire managers, as a gentle tire wear multiplier makes a no-stop strategy feasible, with a lucrative reward of 200,000 credits for those who cross the finish line first.
In addition to the monetary rewards from these events, Weekly Challenges also offer enticing bonus prizes that increase in value as players complete more tasks. These rewards vary each week and are delivered as tickets to your Garage's Gifts section, so ensure to redeem them before they expire.
This week’s rewards return to a familiar format that seasoned players will recognize: a 100,000 credit ticket for finishing any one event, a 200,000 credit ticket for completing any three events, and a grand 500,000 credit ticket upon clearing the entire set.
To access the Weekly Challenges, players must have successfully completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and viewed the concluding movie. Events refresh at midnight local time every Friday morning, so mark your calendars for the next set of exciting challenges, which will debut on Friday, February 6.
