The 2025 U.S. Open swimming championships, held in Austin, Texas, saw a plethora of records broken and exciting races. Here's a recap of some of the standout performances:
Men's 200 Freestyle:
Luke Hobson shattered the meet and pool records with a time of 1:44.69, outperforming the previous meet record holder.
Women's 100 Fly:
Gretchen Walsh dominated, setting a new meet and pool record with a time of 55.60, surpassing the previous records held by Torri Huske and Sarah Sjostrom.
Men's 100 Fly:
Shaine Casas claimed the gold, breaking the Championship Record with a time of 50.24, and moving up in the all-time rankings.
Women's 400 IM:
Mary-Sophie Harvey won in 4:36.75, more than two seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, Tara Kinder.
Men's 400 IM:
Carson Foster dominated, touching in 4:07.02, nearly eight seconds ahead of the second-place finishers, Luka Mijatovic and Baylor Nelson.
Women's 100 Breaststroke:
Kate Douglass secured her third event win, touching in 1:06.55, three tenths ahead of Canada's Alexanne Lepage and Mona McSharry.
Men's 100 Breaststroke:
Alexei Avakov set a new top time with 59.45, breaking Brendan Hansen's Texas Pool Record.
Women's 100 Backstroke:
Hubert Kos won in 52.62, nearly a second ahead of Canada's Blake Tierney.
Men's 200 Freestyle:
Luke Hobson again made history, touching in 1:44.49, outperforming Chris Guiliano's 1:45.67 and breaking the prelims Meet Record and Yannick Agnel's pool record.
